Good Jinx, Reimagined

From magazine to creative world

Good Jinx began during the pandemic as a creative magazine. I interviewed artists and other creatives, documented their work, and created a place for their stories to exist. At the time, Good Jinx was rooted primarily in publishing. It was a magazine, an archive, and a way of taking a chance on creativity when the world felt uncertain.

Then life changed. I went back to school, stepped away from publishing, and stopped producing the magazine consistently. During that time, I kept trying to reimagine Good Jinx. The further I moved from its original format, the harder it became to force it back into the same container.

Eventually, I realized that Good Jinx did not need to return to exactly what it had been. It needed room to become what it was growing into.

Today, Good Jinx is expanding beyond a magazine. It is becoming a creative world where writing, photography, artwork, sound, books, objects, fragrance, dreams, thoughts, and everyday experiences can exist together. One idea can become a story, an image, a publication, a recording, an object, or an entire sensory experience.

Everything is now something to write about.

That sentence became the literary foundation of Good Jinx because creativity does not only come from extraordinary moments. It can begin with something ordinary, remembered, imagined, or almost unnoticed. Within everything, there is something to write about, something to question, or something new to create.

Right now, I am using my own work as the first experiment. I am creating without forcing every idea into one category or pressuring myself to follow a rigid publishing schedule. The goal is not for Good Jinx to remain centered only on me.

As it grows, I want Good Jinx to become a space where other creatives can bring together the many parts of what they do, without reducing themselves to one title, one medium, or one kind of work.

The magazine archive remains because it shows where Good Jinx began. Everything being created now is evidence of where it is going.
